So many
people, inclusive of your fans, mentors, congregants and even enemies
may not get the opportunity to hear you sing, but they are going to form
a perception about your person. This, they can easily do judging from
the way and manner in which you project yourself before them. Upcoming gospel artistes should project themselves in the way and manner they want to be seen. This can be easily done by making your strengths more obvious than your weaknesses. Truth is, no one is perfect, no one is meant to be, but however a person is created, there are things that should be seen as "selling points" for an artiste; PROJECT THEM WELL!
If you are an artiste who is best at traditional patterns of music, you shouldn't be seen speaking against such traditions. Even if you do not go about talking about such traditional patterns, you should be known for your finesse in that pattern of music. This should be done in such a way that if anyone thinks of an event that would require traditional ministration or performance, you should come to mind immediately!
In medical practice for instance, we know when to seek a gynaecologist, a dentist, an optician, an ENT specialist, etc. However, you cannot seek all of these people for issues that do not concern them. In the same vein, if you are proficient in singing in a particular language, you should be well known for it; Don't hide or express such knowledge and ability in obscurity; make it known to whoever you meet! Project yourself properly, project your strength visibly!
There are many things that can be projected by an upcoming artiste and your skill and proficiency in whatever you do is most basic and important. if you represent a new and unusual kind of skill like Destiny de Great who plays the keyboard with his elbow (read about him here), you should project yourself more in that field than be seen involved in activities that do not concern or reflect your interest.
Beyond skills and talent, PROJECT YOURSELF PROPERLY, In places where you have not been called to minister, you shouldn't be seen as a tout. If you want to go on holiday, don't holiday like a club entertainer, or move around ungodly places. If you are projecting or trending any hashtag (#), don't go about trending an already popular hashtag like one who is imitating another popular or famous person. Be unique, project yourself uniquely; let there be something good people to see and learn about you. Your political voice should not be louder than your musical voice! Project what you represent.
