In a report by Vanguard Newspaper, Soyinka reportedly made this known on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.
The writer reportedly said he will not destroy his residency permit until he sees what becomes of Trump’s administration after inaugurated into office.
“Why don’t we wait until Trump actually takes office? I am just going
about my normal commitments, but definitely not getting into any more
commitments. Let’s put it that way for now,” he said.
Days before the United States presidential election held, Soyinka had
threatened to tear his permit should Republican candidate, Donald Trump
emerge winner.
Following Trump’s victory on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, Nigerians had
taken to social media to request that the Nobel laureate made through
his threat.
I believe it... He is a noble man, noble men keep to their words... He most tear that card ooo! Lets just watch and see

ReplyWhy is he scared? This is different from dasukigate. Anyways, many Nigerians have decided to take trump words and his assumption to office of the president as TRUMPSGATE. If we don't like him and his policies, then, it's high time for the Africans and her leaders to woke up from their slumber and let sleeping dogs lie. Let America or Americans face their issues and let Nigeria or Nigerians face theirs. Why the complaints?
